The 3D printed metal keys are provided by company Urban Alps AG. The mechanical key hides its security features internally to increase key copy protection. The keys are manufactured in Switzerland using Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion and nickel-base alloy with a production volume of about 100,000 parts per year. Advantages of printing the keys are: 1) Security – an otherwise impossible to manufacture key. 2) Batch size of 1 – each key must be different. 3) Distributed manufacturing.
