ProAir training adapter

The Dräger ProAir is a positive pressure closed circuit breathing apparatus which is used by fire fighting and mining rescue services for long duration missions. This adapter of the BG ProAir is used for training purposes. Due to the complex geometry, short project time frame and a low volume per year, production by injection molding was not an attractive option. This lead to the use of additive manufacturing. The freedom of design and mechanical properties are met using SLS. The appearance was adapted to additional accessories by dying. As the part is used directly within the breathing circuit of the operator, it has to be cleaned and disinfected after each training session. Therefore the surface quality and its resistance against cleaning agents were improved by vapor polishing.
